Geraldine "Gerri "'s Story
Geraldine "Gerri " Lawson Harman beloved mother, grandmother, sister and devoted friend, peacefully departed this world on January 10, 2018. She was born during the great depression on August 22, 1935 to Garnet K. Lawson and Blanche Tolley Lawson in McDowell County, the heart of coal country, Vivian, West Virginia.
In 1953, she married James Edward Harman and moved to Bluefield, Virginia. She and James had four children. In 1979, she moved to Charlottesville and worked as a bookkeeper until her retirement at age 73 in 2008. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister and was preceded in death by her brothers Garnet M. Lawson and infant Ronald Lawson, and is survived by four siblings, Paul, Larry, Priscilla and Cindy; four children, Evelyn, James Jr., Keith, and John and daughters-in-law Doris Ann, Donna, and Faith; four grandchildren, Amanda, Kayla, Kaitlyn and Lindsay, and five great-grandchildren: Brayden, Sophia, Eliana, Xaiver, and Lillian. She is also survived by her dear friend of many years, Ed Spencer, to whom she was deeply devoted.
A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am at Teague Funeral Home at 2260 Ivy Road on Saturday, January 13th.
