Gerald Warner Lafferty


Gerald Warner Lafferty 80, of Melbourne, Florida died Monday, January 14, 2019. Born October 26, 1938 to Grant and Ruth Warner Lafferty. He grew up in Thompson Valley, Va and graduated from Tazewell High School in 1956. He served in the Army from 1956 to 1959 stationed in Korea as a heavy equipment operator. After the army he operated heavy equipment building highways in Michigan, W.Va, Fla. On December 4, 1965 he married Madeleine Hagerman. They began Lafferty's Poultry Farm in 1966 and worked there until he went to work for Farm Bureau as a sales representative for 32 years. During this time he won numerous awards for outstanding sales.He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic church and was very active with the church and cicic organizations. He enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family and a good joke. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Eleanor McCann. Gerald is survived by his wife of 53 years, Madeleine, sons Gerald Jr. and Patrick(Samantha) daughter Mary(Shawn) Hixon; four grandchildren, Cody, Amanda, Payton, Tyler and Macy. Two brothers, James(Jim), Richard(Dick) a sister Debbie Eastridge.
