PARKERSBURG George "Pete" Dempsey, 53, of Parkersburg, WV formerly of Rock, WV, died Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at his home.
Born November 11, 1964 at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, he was the son of Norma J. Giffin Sowers and step-father Solomon Sowers and the late George Washington Dempsey.
Pete was a carpenter by trade. He enjoyed fishing, his work, spending time with his family, his step-children and his grandchildren. Pete was of the Pentecostal faith.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Andrew Dempsey, grandparents, Mary Jane Kaiser, Calvin Giffin and a brother-in-law, David Eason.
Surviving are his loving wife, Heather Phillips Dempsey; Beloved dog, Daisy Mae; Step-sons, Thomas Phillips and Miguel Villafranco and special friend Natasha Given all of Athens; Step-daughter, Elizabeth Graham and husband Dusty of Athens; Two brothers, Danny Dempsey and wife Melissa of Elliston, VA and Paul Dempsey of Bluefield, WV; Sister-in-law, Linda Dempsey of Bluefield, WV; One sister, Jeanette Eason of Bluewell, WV; Special grandmother, Betty Houchins of Athens; Five Grandsons; Several nieces, nephews; Special friend Taresa Masters and Craig Young of Lashmeet and special cousin, Tara Sparks of Lashmeet.
Services of celebration will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 23, 2017 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Mac Riggins and Solomon Sowers officiating. Burial will follow in the Caperton Family Cemetery at Speedway.
Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 A.M. until the service hour at the funeral home.
