BLUEFIELD, WVa. - Geneva A. Lester, 85, of Bluefield, WV, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Friday September 8, 2017 at the home of her daughter in Loris, SC. Born December 8, 1931 in Independence, VA, she was a daughter of the late Edward Carson and Delia Edwards Carson. Mrs. Lester was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where she was active in the Women's Ministries. Mrs. Lester was a very loving mother. She and her husband owned and operated F & L Oil Company in Bluefield, VA. Mrs. Lester was also a member of Gideon's International and the Mercer County CEO. She enjoyed collecting recipes, cooking, and baking. She liked crafting, sewing, and quilting, and she loved her flowers, gardening, and working in her yard. She had a witty personality and loved to laugh. She had a great loved for music. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Frank C. Lester, Jr. in 2002; and brothers, Ted Carson of Virginia, Bill Carson of Ohio, and June Carson of Ohio.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Donna Elizabeth "Beth" Branton and husband Sammy, who Mrs. Lester loved dearly like a son instead of a son-in-law, of South Carolina; brother, Bob Carson and wife Jo of South Carolina; sisters-in-law, Juanita Carson and Martha Carson, both of Ohio; many loving nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends; special friend who was like a daughter to her, Jane Pfau; special friends Osie Pfau and JoAnn Adkins; caretakers, Barry and Russell Gray-Couch, and Carol, Jim, and Jackie Nelson, and hospice caretakers, Ginger and Ashley.
A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday September 14, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jonathan Rockness and Rev. Mack Hutson officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV where Barry Gray-Couch, Russell Gray-Couch, Jim Nelson, Paul Looney, Carl Branton, and Chad Hatcher will serve as pallbearers.
