Frank Henderson Carroll, 79 of Bluefield, VA, passed away at his home Sunday, January 14, 2018 with his family by his side.
Born in Bluefield, VA, he was the son of the late Elmer and Mary Lou Pugh Carroll. He had proudly served his county in the United States Army, while stationed in Germany, during the Korean War. In his younger years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Frank loved westerns and bluegrass and country music. He never met a stranger and enjoyed conversing with others.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Cecil Carroll, Herman Carroll, Rosalie Blackmon, Finley Carroll, Minnie Compton, Mamie Boothe and Nora E. Carroll; his daughter: Susan Sawyers.
He will be lovingly missed by his wife of more than 43 years: Sandra Thompson Carroll; his daughters: Vickie Gray (Jeff) of West Chester, OH and Betty Carroll of North Tazewell, VA; son-in-law: Butch Sawyers of Bluefield, WV; brother: Richard Carroll of Bluefield, VA; grandchildren: Amanda L Pierce (Andre' Dublin), Martin A Pierce, Kimberly D Bennett (Bobby), Wesley A Johnson; great-grandchildren: Skylar M Bennett and Birdie Dublin-Pierce; numerous nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Frank's life will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Rev Wes Lambert officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday at Dudley Memorial from 5:00 P.M. until the hour of the service. Military graveside rites will be conducted at Grandview Memory Mausoleum Chapel on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. with the VFW Post #9696 and the Pocahontas American Legion Post #14 officiating. Andre' Dublin, Bobby Bennett, Wesley Johnson, Martin Pierce, Jerry Meredith and Steven Meredith will serve as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend the graveside service, are asked to meet at Grandview Mausoleum on Thursday no later than 1:45 P.M.
