Evelyn Broughton Delong, age 85, of Richlands, Virginia, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2018 in a Bristol, TN hospital following a sudden illness.
She was born in Wallins Creek, Kentucky and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Marie Hubbard Broughton.
She was a lifelong resident of the Richlands area and was the former treasurer for the Richlands Area Ministerial Association. She was an active member of the Richlands First United Methodist Church. She sang in the choir for over fifty years and was a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class. She also volunteered for the Good Samaritan Food Pantry in Richlands, Virginia. She was a Richlands High School Class of 1951 graduate.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Delong; and one sister, Violet Johnson.
Survivors are: Son: John Delong of Salisbury, NC; Niece: Debbie Voorhies of Hawaii; Nephew: Kirby Johnson and friend, Sabrina of Huntsville, Alabama.
Graveside services for Evelyn Delong will be conducted Friday, January 12, 2018 at 2pm at the Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum in Richlands, Virginia with the Rev. Jerry Welch officiating. Interment will follow. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
