Eleanor Meadows's Story
RICHLANDS, Va. — Eleanor Meadows Brown Gustafson, age 81, of Richlands, VA, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Clinch Valley Medical Center in Richlands, VA. Born December 28, 1935 in Tazewell County, she was the daughter of the late John Howard and Stella Cooper Meadows.
She graduated from Richlands High School Class of 1954 and attended Southwest Community College. She was a lifelong member of the Richlands Assembly of God Church and Trinity Assembly of God Church in Cedar Bluff where she taught Sunday School for many years. Eleanor was a retired office manager from Southwest Tire Company and Virginia Metal Products.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Earmel Lee Brown and her second husband, David Gustafson.
Survivors are: Two Sisters: Beulah Carole Meadows Griffith and husband, Kenneth of Gastonia, NC, Iva Jean Meadows Cox of Hardy, VA. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family expresses its gratitude to close friends, Kansas Wilson Tatum, Dot Rose, and Jane Roberts for their love and care they gave to Eleanor.
Funeral services for Eleanor Gustafson will be conducted Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11am at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, VA with the Rev. Ethel Watson and Rev. Randy Fielder officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be: Stanley Mitchell, Bruce Mitchell, Mark Mitchell, John Lamie, Joe Tatum, and Roby Perry. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Jim Boyd, Marvin Lowe, Dave Stanton, Jr., and Susan Stanton Osborne.
Friends may call from 6pm until 8pm Thursday evening at the funeral home.
