SPEEDWAY Elaine Claudia White, 89, of the Brush Creek Falls Road, Speedway, died peacefully Friday, June 8, 2018 at her home with her loving family by her side.
Born March 6, 1929 at Princewick, she was the daughter of the late John Lilly & Ethel Cox Lilly.
Mrs. White was a retired employee at Concord University in Athens and a member of the Rich Creek Baptist Church at Spanishburg. She will long be remembered for being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was one of great faith, reading her Bible daily and sharing her love with others. While her health permitted, she enjoyed quilting, reading and working in her flowers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Glen Edward White, and son Kenneth White.
Those left to cherish her memory, her four loving children: Carol & Ernest Asbury, Steve & Melissa Kinzer, David & Sheila White all of Speedway, Bonnie & Ross Matherly of Lerona; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, & 3 great great grandchildren; daughter in law, Phyllis White, and a special niece, Brenda Abram, along with her half sister Edra Asbury Baker of Richlands VA. The family would also like to express their appreciation for the care given by Hospice Amedisys.
Services to celebrate the life of Elaine White will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, June 13, 2018 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors Ralph Calfee & Jamie Mattox officiating. Burial will follow in the White/Pennington Cemetery at Speedway.
Friends may visit with the family Tuesday from 6 until 8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons: Shannon White, Mike Matherly, Anthony Matherly, Derek White, Steven Kinzer, Adam Kinzer and son in law Steve Kinzer.
