Edward V. Horton, 98 of Princeton died Friday, July 07, 2017, at Glenwood Park Retirement Village. Born in Windsor, VA March 11, 1919 he was the son of the late Ernest and Beulah Horton.
Ed was the retired President of the Dean Company in Princeton. He was an active member of the First United Church in Princeton where he served in the United Methodist Men, Men's Prayer Breakfast and the Adult Bible Class. He was a member and Past President of the Princeton Rotary Club and was a former Member and Past President of Princeton Community Hospital Board of Directors.
Ed was a U.S. Army Air Corp veteran of World War II. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at Fincastle Country Club and Fountain Springs Golf Course throughout the years. Ed moved to Princeton from Portsmouth, VA in 1966.
In addition to his parents one son, Edward V. Horton, Jr.; one daughter, Hylah Horton Lohr and one brother, Ernest Horton, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Margaret Simmons Horton of Princeton; one son, William "Will" Horton and his wife Victoria of Princeton; four grandchildren, Dr. Ginger Lohr Milne and husband Stephen, Victor Robert Clifton Lohr and wife, Jessica Anne, Taylor Camp Horton and Betsy Lee Horton; two great-grandchildren, Carol Elizabeth Milne and William Robert Bruce Milne; son-in-law, Robert N. "Bob" Lohr.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Ed will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, July 10, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church in Princeton with Rev. Scott Sears officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard conducting Military Graveside Rites. Pallbearers will be Charles Pace, Herbert McClaugherty, Victor Lohr, Taylor Horton, Buddy Tolley, Jerry Flanagan, Steve Milne, Thomas Andrew Dean and David Graham.
Friends may call at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, July 9, 2017 (today).
