Edith B. Burge, age 90, of Cedar Bluff, VA passed away Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at her home.
Mrs. Burge was born in Buchanan County, VA and was the daughter of the late Elbert and Lucy Stiltner Elswick. She was a member of the New Hope Assembly of God Church at Claypool Hill, VA. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Joe Phipps, Lester Bennett and Joseph Burge; sisters, Lassie Hardin, Avis Edwards; and brother, Earl Elswick.
She is survived by: Her Brother, Estil Elswick of Okinawa, Japan. Canine Companion, "Tippy". Nieces: Pat Edwards of Grovetown, GA, Sue Sperbeck of Brooksville, FL, Bennie Mufdi of Denver, CO. Nephews: Steve Edwards of Nappanee, IN, Mike Edwards of South Bend, IN. Special Friends, Peggy Plaster, Ikey and Tilda Ball; and Junior and Carolyn Vandyke. Special Caregivers, Staff and Nurses of Legacy Hospice. A host of family and friends also survive.
A funeral service for Edith B. Burge will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, VA with Pastor Claudie Throgmartin and Pastor David Horton officiating. Entombment will follow at Greenhills Memory Garden Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 -9:00 pm at the funeral home.
