Edith Ann Akers Jackson Edith Ann Akers Jackson, 77 of Tazewell, VA died Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. Born March 1, 1941 in Tazewell, VA she was a daughter of the late William Edgar and Cynthia Suetta Stevenson Akers.
Edith was a member of Tazewell Baptist Church and served with many civic organizations including the Tazewell Planning Commission and the Sesquicentennial Celebration Committee. She was instrumental in organizing the annual Tazewell Veterans Day Parade. Over the years, Edith worked as receptionist in several area physician and dental offices, most recently with Dr. Rodney Abrahams.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Sue Shutt and Betty Griffith and brothers, Albert and Bill Akers.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy Jackson; daughter, Cindy Brooks and husband, Gaylan of Beckley, WV; sisters, Nancy Altizer, Patsy Daniel and husband, Sam, Judy Congrove and husband, Jim, Linda Akers all of Tazewell, VA, and Christine King and husband J.E. of Abingdon, VA; grandson, Kevin Brooks and wife, Alee of Beckley, WV; great grandchildren, Alivea and Avery Brooks, and another expected at any moment, Axel Brooks.
The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until 2 PM Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA where funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM with the Reverend J.C. Steele and Pastor Steve Emory officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Pallbearers are Rick Alley, Kevin Brooks, Gaylan Brooks, Glenn Keene, J.E. King, and Jim Congrove.

Tom and Cindy (and family), so sorry to hear of Edith's passing. Prayers for all of you. Edith was like a sister to my family and like a daughter to my Mom and Dad.
