Earl Morgan Barrett
Born April 2, 1941 in Bluefield, VA, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was the son of the late Edward and Thelma Wade Barrett.
His childhood dream came true at the time he joined the Prince William County Police Department and served the county for 10 years before returning to Princeton, WV, finishing his career working for Hurst Medical Equipment. Earl enjoyed people, being very active with his church. He loved God, Family and Life. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Edward Barrett, and four sisters, Janice Irene Austin, Mona Wade Compton, Patricia Joanne Moore and Norma Jean Barrett Bay.
Leaving behind to cherish his memory is his most loving, devoted wife and best friend of 57 years, Anna Gale McCoy Barrett;
One daughter, Cathy L. James; Son-in-law, Daniel William James;
Along with a host of many nieces, nephews and friends;
Also, this includes but is not limited to three very special friends, Jean Dunn, Randy Thompson and Tom Carpenter.
The family wishes to express a very extended thank-you to Dr. Todd Smith and every member of his staff for all their time and care over the many years Earl was his patient. Thank-you to the staff of Princeton Community Hospital's 3-East, CCU and 4-East for their many hours of time, effort and excellent care during the last 3 weeks of Earl's life. The family wishes to thank-you Amanda Tooley for helping Earl and his family anyway she could during this period of time. Thank-you to the staff of Glenwood Nursing Home and a special thank-you to Mr. Billy Anderson for his kindness and watchful care provided to Earl during his final 3 days of life.
In compliance with Earl's wishes, he requested to be cremated with only a memorial service and no visitation prior to the service.
Memorial services to celebrate the life of Earl Morgan Barrett will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, January 11, 2019 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory with Pastor Tom Carpenter officiating. There will be no visitation prior to the service. Online condolences may be shared via www.memorialfd.com. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Earl's memory to: Alzheimers Association WV Chapter, 1601 2nd Avenue, Charleston, WV 25387 or to, Shriners Hospitals for Children Medical Center, 3206, 110 Conn Terrace, Lexington, KY 40508 the Shriners.
The Barrett family is being served by the Memorial Funeral Directory and Cremation Center on the Athens Road in Princeton.
