Dorothy "Dot" Kensinger, 89 formerly of Bluefield, WV, died Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in Louisville, KY.
Dot is the daughter of the late James and Virginia Harmon of Maybeury, WV and was the third of seven children.
Dot enjoyed a career as a registered nurse after training at St. Luke's Hospital. In 1953, she married the late Edward H. "Babe" Kensinger, of Bluefield. Dot and Babe enjoyed a 64-year marriage filled with love, laughter and family. Dot is a Member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where she sang in the sanctuary choir for 50 years.
Dot is survived by daughters: Karen Sarver (Fred) of Carlisle, KY and Kathy Kensinger (Mary Grace Feltham) of Louisville, KY; grandchildren: Justin Sarver (Jessica) of Madison, VA and Meghan O'Brien (Maurice) of Salem, VA; great-grandchildren: Joshua Sarver, Amelia O'Brien and Evelyn O'Brien; siblings: Ernie Harmon (Nellie) of Marion, VA, Peggy Sue McCann (Jim) of San Diego, CA, Shirley Brooks of Bluefield, VA; many nieces and nephews, including goddaughter: Julia Shawver of Williamsburg, VA.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, E.H. "Babe" Kensinger; siblings: Evelyn Durham, Helen Shawver and James Harmon, Jr.
Funeral services will be at Trinity United Methodist Church, Bluefield, WV, on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Jerri Williams officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the service. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
