Dorothy "Dottie"'s Story
PRINCETON — Dorothy "Dottie" Bailey Blankenship, 82, of Hillsville VA, formerly of Quail Valley Estates, Princeton died Tuesday morning, March 28, 2017 at her home.
Born November 6, 1934 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence R. Bailey Sr. & Fleda Coburn Bailey.
Dottie was a graduate of Athens High School. She had a long career in banking having worked for Princeton Bank & Trust Co. and retiring from First Century Bank of Bluefield.
While living in Princeton, Dottie was a faithful and active member of First Church of God on Mahood Avenue in Princeton where she was a member of the Choir and YOUAD Sunday School Class.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Jack Bailey and C.R. Bailey Jr.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Shelby H. Blankenship, son Gregory Blankenship & wife Trish all of Hillsville VA. Four grandchildren: Kassidy, Khristian, Alston & Destinee, one great grandchild, Ava, along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Services to celebrate the life of Dottie Blankenship will be held 2:00PM Saturday, April 1, 2017 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Larry McCallister Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
Friends may visit with the family Saturday from 1:00 PM until the service hour at the funeral home.
