Donna Sue Bailey Nichols, 69, of St. Albans, passed peacefully in Princeton, WV on Thursday, March 8th, 2018, surrounded by her family after a long illness. Donna was born on March 26, 1948 in Bluefield, WV a daughter of the late Charles Winton Bailey and Nettie Thelma Brown.
She attended Oakvale Elementary and Hardy School in Mercer County. Donna was devoted in caring for and raising her siblings before moving to Charleston, WV to raise three children of her own.
Along with her parents, Donna is preceded in death by her husband James F. Nichols; siblings Elizabeth "Sugar" Dillon and James Franklin Bailey.
She is survived by her sons, James "Jimmy", William "Billy" (Angelia) and Dion (Linda); brother Pete Bailey of Ohio, sisters Ruth Goings, Dorothy Bailey and Rita Hylton of Inglside; Cathy Blake of North Carolina. She is also survived by her pride and joy, grandson Jamison of Nitro and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to being a loving and compassionate wife, mother and grandmother, she was employed as a waitress for Shoney's for many years as well as various other landmark establishments in Charleston, such as The Quarrier Diner and The Strand.
Donna lived life to the fullest and could bring a smile to anyone's face. Her greatest joy was being with her family, no matter what the occasion. She loved people and was a constant joy to be around. She loved music, dancing and bingo. She especially loved to spend time with her family on holidays and really enjoyed a down to earth conversation. To know her was more than a gift and being a part of her life was a blessing.
Celebration of Donna's life will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Roselawn Funeral Home, Princeton with Pastor David Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Family Cemetery, Peggy Branch Road.
Gathering of family and friends will be from 11 until time of service at the funeral home.
