Dianna Mae's Story

Dianna Mae Keen Dawson, 66 years of age, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at her home in Bland, after an extended illness. Born August 27, 1950 in Hurley, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Lonzo Keen and Mary Stacy Keen.
She grew up in Buchanan County, Virginia, graduated from Hurley High School, and earned a degree in Accounting from Southwest Virginia Community College. She worked for several years in accounting and bookkeeping. She made her home in Tazewell County, Virginia and later in Bland County, Virginia where she was a homemaker, enjoyed cattle farming, gardening, and canning. She loved spending time with her family, working jigsaw puzzles, watching western movies, and participating in activities and trips with senior citizen groups.
Mrs. Dawson was a member of the Church of Christ and was always by her husband's side as he devoted a lifetime to ministering the gospel, having served several churches throughout their lifetime. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Dawson was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years Steve Dawson, one grandson Wyatt Miller, and sisters, Dora Keen, Martha Looney, Marie Hogston, Flora McCoy and brother, Leonard Keen.
Mrs. Dawson is survived by three sons: Steve (fiancee Kelly) of Tampa, Florida; Raymond (Sherri) of Abingdon, Virginia; Robert of Bland, Virginia; one daughter, Jennifer Miller (Bryan) of Cedar Bluff, Virginia. She is also survived by sisters, Ethel McClanahan (James) of Hurley, Virginia, Betty Hibbitts (Ardale) of Grundy, Virginia and brother, Robert Keen (Rosa) of Grundy, Virginia. Three grandsons: Stevie Dawson (Bethany), Devyn Perkins, and Case Dawson. Two granddaughters: Amanda Miller Roberts (Kermit), and Jamie Dawson. One great-granddaughter; Patterson Duncan; several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Jean Miller for her love, care, and support, and to Wythe Hospice of Southwest Virginia for their care and support in her final days.
Funeral Services for Dianna Mae Keen Dawson will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the Claypool Hill Church of Christ with evangelists Hobert Kennedy, and Jim Conley officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, Virginia.
The family will receive family and friends at the Claypool Hill Church of Christ at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017.
Pallbearers will be Family and Friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Pruett, Paul Turner, Robert Keen, Ardale Hibbitts, James McClanahan, and Carol McMillion.
