Debra Michele Handy, 64, a lifetime resident of War, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017 in The Maples, Bluefield.
Born May 31, 1953 in Irvington, New Jersey she was the daughter of the late Joe Willie Handy and Willa Ann Wright Handy. She was a 1970 graduate of Big Creek High School and attended Bluefield State College. She was a dedicated employee of the McDowell County Board of Education for 42 years. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in War.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Willa Handy of Columbus, OH; four siblings, Joe Handy of Westfield, NJ, and Ann Handy, Paula Handy and Peter Handy all of War; a niece Tamara Handy of Philadelphia, PA; a nephew Joseph Handy of Westfield, NJ; and a host of aunts, uncles, family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, December 7 at 11 a.m. in Christ the King Catholic Church, War with Father Luis Lacson serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in Maple Wood Cemetery, Tazewell, VA.
Visitation will be held one hour before the service on Thursday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Peter Handy, Quinto Falgiani Jr., Ronnie Bland, Quinto Falgiani III, Jeff Cooper, Randy Price and David Cooper.
The Douglas Mortuary is serving the family.
