David Ray Pruitt


David Ray Pruitt, 64 of Dublin, VA formerly of Squire, WV died Saturday, June 22, 2019 at his home. Born August 7, 1954 at Mt. Airy, NC he was a son of Lou Tannery of Winston Salem, NC and the late Bobby Ray Pruitt. He was a loving son, brother, father, and grandfather. He worked nearly 20 years for Consol at Amonate, VA. Ray loved to hunt, fish, and spend time with family and friends.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Demmie Pruitt, stepfather, Robert Tannery; son in law, Mark McDaniel.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughters, Angela McDaniel and Cristy Pruitt both of Tazewell, VA; brother, Bryant Pruitt and wife, Kristen of Stuart, VA; grandchildren, Tyler, Ethan, and Brayden; very special friends, Dave Harrison of North Tazewell, VA, Virgil Sheppard of Radford, VA, and Joyce Hicks of Bristol, TN; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA where funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 PM with the Reverend John Rowe and Pastor Paula Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow at Baldwin Family Cemetery at Newhall, WV. Following the services, family and friends will meet for fellowship at the New Hope Assembly of God in Berwind, WV.

Ray was a very special person who took great care of my sister, Joyce Hicks, I talk with her almost everyday and she was always telling me and the funny jokes and stuff Ray always said. He will really be missed by Joyce and all of her family. He was truly a special person. God speed Ray.
