Cynthia's Story

Cynthia Yvonne Burress, 54, went to her heavenly home Sunday, December 24, 2017 at her home in Charlotte, NC.
Born March 4, 1963 in Bluefield she was the daughter of the late James Cox and Alice Lee Jones Cox. Cynthia was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Bluefield and the Victory Christian Center in Charlotte, NC.
She attended schools in Mercer County and formerly worked at Belk at Mercer Mall. She also worked at Belk, Harris Teeter and Kinder Care in Charlotte before her illness.
She enjoyed music, modeling, and making people laugh.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Dwayne Kelley; and one sister, Deborah Cox.
She left to cherish her memory, husband, Ronald Burress, Jr.; two children, Kenneth Walton (Amy) and Domonisha Walton; sisters, Shirley Walton, Lona Garrett, and Karen Cox; brothers, Edward Cox (Eyde), Dorian Cox (Marquinta); and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the Greater Mount Zion Pentecostal Church in Bluefield with Bishop Charles D. Shaw officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Park Cemetery in Princeton.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call at the church from 11:00 AM until the service hour on Saturday.
Let not your hearty be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions, If it were not so I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. St. John 14:1-2.
