ATHENS Covella "Jean" Cook, 87, of Morgan Street, Athens died peacefully Thursday night, September 7, 2017 at her home with family by her side.
Born November 24, 1929 at Turkey Gap, she was the daughter of the late Hugh Ballard French & Gertrude Griffith French.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. While her health permitted, she loved to work in her flower beds and in the yard.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James Denver Cook along with all of her siblings: Ruby, Jeannie, Fred, Betty, Zilla, Ovella, Edith, Junior and four infant siblings.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Those left to cherish her memory, her two loving and caring children, James Kennie Cook & wife Gail of Princeton, Patty Jean Cook of the Home. Two grandchildren: Kevin Cook & wife Stephanie, Ryan Cook and companion Tiffani, three great grandchildren: Linsey, Nathan & Olive. A host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Dallas Peyton Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Athens Cemetery in Athens.
Friends may visit with the family Monday from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour at the funeral home.
