Colleen Turner, age 88, formerly of Welch, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2018.
She was born on June 21, 1929 to the late Carl and Rubye Quesenberry.
She was a graduate of Welch High School in 1947 and graduated from Madison College (now James Madison University) in 1951 where she was an outstanding basketball player at both.
She is fondly remembered for the 40+ years she spent coaching and teaching at Welch High School. She coached basketball, track, and cheerleading, and taught physical education and health.
Colleen also devoted many years caring for her loving parents.
Colleen had a particular love of sports, especially WVU basketball and football. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her great-grandchild, Olivia Tester.
She is survived by her son, Donnie Turner; her grandchildren, Will Turner, Ashleigh Burdette, Lyndsey Turner, and Natalie Tester; her great-grandchildren, Bella Tester, Eva Burdette, and Brody Burdette. A special thank you to Debbie Jones, RN and Teresa Rigney, CNA at Carillon Hospice, and also to Colleen's caregiver, Candy Muncey.
Funeral Services will be conducted, Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 12 Noon from the Fanning Funeral Home Chapel in Welch, WV, with Pastor Olen Butcher-Winfrey Officiating, Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Bluewell WV.
Friends may call Saturday, January 6, 2018, from 11 A.M. to 12 Noon at the Fanning Funeral Home Chapel in Welch WV.
Friends and Family will serve as pallbearers.
