BALLARD, WV - Clarence G. Miller, age 94, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018, at Carilion Giles Community Hospital in Pearisburg, VA. Born December 19, 1923, in Ballard, WV, he was the son of the late Cecil P. and Okla Cecil Miller.
Clarence was a lifelong farmer and worked for Celanese, where he retired after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Kellysville Church of God, a 50-year member of John Dove Lodge #78 AF&AM Peterstown, WV, served on the Monroe Republican Executive Committee, and was a member of the Farm Bureau.
In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Alice Humphreys Miller in 2012; two brothers, Garland L. and Cecil Dean Miller; and one sister, Ruth Gillespie. Survivors include two sons, Melvin Miller and wife Paula, and Leroy Miller and wife Barbara, both of Ballard, WV; two daughters Leta Gray of Narrows, VA, and Neta Ellen Dunn and husband Hunter of Peterstown, WV; one sister, Rachel Bennett of Ballard, WV; ten grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. D. Scott Hayes, Carilion Giles Community Hospital, and the nursing staff.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at the Kellysville Church of God in Kellysville, WV, with Rev. Franklin Adkins officiating. Entombment, with Masonic Rites by John Dove Lodge #78 AF&AM, will follow at Birchlawn Abby in Pearisburg, VA, with his grandchildren serving as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, WV, and one hour prior to the services on Thursday at the church.
