Charles Edward Carter, 85, of Pocahontas, VA, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at his home. Born in Pocahontas, VA he was the son of the late Frank and Cosby Cochran Carter of Pocahontas, VA. Charles was a U.S. Army Veteran during the Korean War era. He was also a member of the Pocahontas Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Roy Taylor; sisters, Dolorse Mabe Bowling, and Aldean Magliacco; his loving daughter Sheila Carter Jones and grandson Adam Harry.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Hilda Carter of the home; son, Jim Carter and wife Jane of Bluefield, VA; daughters, Linda Harry and husband Rick of Ramseur, N.C., Tina Murphy and husband Mike of Boissevain, VA and Charlene Moye and husband Barry of Princeton, WV; grandchildren, Michael Murphy of Bluefield, WV, Katie Murphy Williams and husband Tom of Charleston, SC, Aaron Carter of Hale Thorpe, MD and Travis Jones of Princeton, WV; sisters, Betty Barna of St. Albans, WV, Barbara Williams and husband Joe of Gatesville, TX; brother Tom Carter of Spokane, Washington; many loving nieces and nephews.
Honoring his wishes, Charles will be cremated without funeral services.
