Charles's Story

MAYBEURY — Charles A. Allen, age 85, of Maybeury, WV, departed this life peacefully on April 7, 2017 at his residence.
Born August 8, 1932 in Keystone, WV, he was a son of the late Walter & Viola Lee Allen. A graduate of Kimball High School, he worked for Eastern Gas & Assoc. Keystone where he later retired from. Charles was a member of Mt Moriah Missionary Baptist Church.                                                                                 Charles enjoyed life. He was an avid skater & dancer. He enjoyed sitting on his porch talking to his neighbors.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Charles A (Wanky) Allen Jr.; Daughter, Laverne L. Greer; and 3 brothers, Robert, James, and  George Allen.
Those Charles leaves to cherish his memories are his wife, Ollie Allen; Daughter, Charlene (Kurt) Alston,  Greensboro NC; Sons, Darrell (Keisha) Allen, Charlotte NC, Jerome (Fatema) Watkins, Niagara Falls NY;  Daughters, Debra Hale, Kernersville NC, Renita Hairston, Maybeury WV, and Tina (Reginald) Young, Bluefield WV, and Aaliyah Hairston, Princeton WV;  Brothers, Walter Allen Jr., Roanoke VA, Melvin (Julia) Allen, Columbus OH, and  Sister, Patricia Dalton, Bluefield WV.
A Special  Granddaughter & caregiver Tyeisha Hairston, Princeton WV,  22  Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great- Grandchild & a host of Nieces, Nephews, Family & Friends also survive him.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 12:00 Noon at the Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Maybeury with Rev. Harold Calloway officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens where his friends and family will be serving as his pallbearers.
Friends may call on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the church.
