WYTHEVILLE, Va. — Brandon Lee "Big Sexy" Asbury of Wytheville, VA and formerly of Bluefield, VA, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a brief battle with Choriocarcinoma Cancer.
He was born July 12, 1995 in Bluefield, WV to Kimberly Inscore Asbury of North Tazewell, VA and the late James "Jimmy" Lee Asbury. Brandon was a 2013 graduate of Graham High School. He played football for the Tazewell Bulldogs his senior year and transferred back to Graham High School. He graduated from Tazewell Career Technical Center in Diesel Mechanics. Brandon loved the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Longhorns and could tell you anything about sports. He was employed by Shoneys in Wytheville, VA as a cook and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved sports, family and friends. Brandon was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Melvin and Janie Lowe Asbury; maternal grandparents: Clyde and Julia Inscore; uncles: Bill, Mark, Joey and Ronnie Asbury.
He will be lovingly and affectionately remembered by his mother: Kimberly Inscore Asbury and companion, Robert Bowman of North Tazewell, VA; fiance': Amber Brooks and dog, Monki of Wytheville, VA; sisters: Kaitlyn Asbury and fiance', Kevin Boerboom of Bluefield, WV, Brenda Crewey of Beckley, WV; nephews: Lane Crewey and Michael Crewey of Beckley, WV; special friends: Cody Haitfield, Aaron Smith, Shawn Haitfield, Kenny Richmond, Corey Monninger, Derek Poszich, Mike Atwell, Josh Altizer, Michael Hayes, Justin Warf and Ashley Cruise; several aunts and uncles.
A memorial service to celebrate Brandon's life was held Friday, January 6, 2017 at Dudley Memorial Chapel at 7:00 p.m. with Robert Kinder officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Dudley Memorial to help them with the funeral expenses.
