Beulah Ruth's Story
Beulah Ruth "Boots" Shutt, 89 a lifelong resident of Bishop, VA died Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital, following a long illness. Born August 17, 1928 at Davy, WV she was a daughter of the late James Franklin Sexton and Josephine Garnett Bryant. She was a beloved member of Alexander United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill B. Shutt.
She is survived by three daughters, Jo Marie Atkinson of Charlottesville, VA, Pamela Sue Shutt of Bishop, VA, and Billie Ruth Witt and favorite son in law, Larry Witt of North Tazewell, VA; five grandchildren, Jamie Barnett and wife, Bonnie Hamalainen of Baltimore, MD, Benjamin Atkinson of Los Angeles, CA, Bryon Duty and wife, Amy of Memphis, TN, April Turner of Bristol, VA, Jennifer Vasallo of Wilmington, NC; six great grandchildren, Gabe and Taylor Duty, Guye and Hanna Turner, Tatum and Sirus Beck.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA where funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM with the Reverend Neil Hammond, the Reverend Kenny Fields, and the Reverend Daniel Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Pallbearers are Larry Witt, Sirus Beck, Bryon Duty, Guye Turner, Ben Atkinson, and Gabe Duty. Honorary pallbearer is Roy Blankenship.
