PRINCETON Arlene "Cookie" Nelson, 64, of Princeton, died Thursday, December 21, 2017. Born November 18, 1953 in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Fred Howerton and Cecile Cleavers Howerton.
Mrs. Nelson was a medical assistant and retired from Princeton Internists. She was a member of Fairview Christian Community Church in Princeton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Howerton.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, James Nelson of Princeton; two sons, Freddie Nelson and wife Jennifer of Colorado Springs, CO and Dwayne Nelson of Princeton; one step-son, Russell Nelson and wife Tammy of Hardy, VA; two grandchildren: Brooke Nelson of Bramwell and Zachary Nelson of Colorado Springs, CO; one sister, Maxine Rhinehart of Apoka, FL; three sisters-in-law, Janice Jenkins and husband Junior of Princeton, Ethel Stephens of Lynchburg, VA and Macie Stevens of Conway, SC; one brother-in-law, Robert Nelson of Princeton; and special friend and cousin, Elsie Croy of Princeton.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Larry Dyer officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Princeton.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 23, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until service hour at the Bailey-Kirk Funeral Home in Princeton.
