Alvis P. Orender Sr., 79 of Ashland, passed away, Thursday, September 28, 2017 and was reunited with his wife.
He was born on June 28, 1938 to the late Earl and Rowena (nee Meadows) Orender in Bud, West Virginia.
Alvis married the former, Joyce Ritter on March 29th, 1958. He was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Alvis served as a crew chief aviation mechanic for 17 years in the military. Following his military career, Alvis went on to work at the Ford Motor Company where he retired after more than 25 years of service.
He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed watching tractor pulls and traveling throughout his life. Alvis loved spending time with family. He was a previous member of the Wellington Freewill Baptist Church.
Alvis is survived by three sons, Alvis P. Orender Jr. of Wooster, Jefferson S. (Linda) Orender of Ashland, Anthony (Rebecca) Orender of Ashland; nine grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one aunt, Nada (Robert) Honaker of Bluewell, West Virginia.
In addition to his parents, Alvis is preceded in death by his wife of nearly 52 years, Joyce Orender who passed away January 11, 2010; one daughter, Pamela Myers; two sisters; two brothers; and two great granddaughters.
Funeral services will be held, Wednesday October 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Heaton officiating. Interment will be in the Trinity Cemetery where the Ashland Veteran' Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to Ashland County Veteran's Honor Guard, c/o VFW Post #1067, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
