Alejandro Rafael Solis, 74 of Bluefield, VA died Friday, March 9, 2018 at Mercer Nursing & Rehab Center in Bluefield, WV.
Born October 17, 1943 in Leon, Nicaragua, he was a son of the late Alejandro Solis and Ana Christina Ugart'e Gonzalez. He was of the Roman Catholic faith.
Mr. Solis coached baseball in the CYO for nine years and taught native Americans the game of baseball in Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter and granddaughter, Sylvia Beth Solis.
He is survived by sons, Alejandro Solis and wife, Katherine of Bluefield, VA, Darryl R. Solis of Baltimore, MD, Ricardo B. Solis of Bluefield, VA, James Christopher Solis of Hagerstown, MD, Luis F. Solis and wife, Angie of Nemours, VA, and Santiago Solis of Hagerstown, MD; daughters, Anna Soraya Solis of Silver Springs, MD, Diana Solis of Herndon, VA, and Alexcia B. Solis of Richmond, VA; brothers, Santiago Gonzalez and wife, Mayra of California and Luis Gonzalez and wife, Nereyda of Florida; sisters, Ana Solis and husband, Jesus of Puerto Rico, Fatima Gonzalez and husband, Bruce of Bethesda, MD, and Carmen Gonzalez and husband, Melvin of Charlotte, NC; nineteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Friday and Saturday evenings (March 16th and 17th) at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home in Tazewell, VA where services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday, March 18, 2018 with Father Jugene Espeleta officiating.
