Abner's Story

PRINCETON Abner S. Lester, 83, of Dusty Miller Street, Princeton, a devoted husband, father, grandfather & brother, is with his Lord and Savior and his beloved wife.
Born November 16, 1933 at Ury, he was the son of the late Phillip Harman Lester & Evaleen Grose Lester.
Mr. Lester served with the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Lester worked in the coal industry for more than 40 years, have been a miner, a federal mine inspector and other companies related to the coal business. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith and had been an evangelist for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Vera Louise Mullins Lester and a brother Roy Grose.
Survivors include his five children and spouses: Debra & Tim of Kegley, Phillip & Janet of Pineville, Crick & Cathy, Phyllis & Chuck all of CO, Jeffrey of Princeton. 12 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren. Two siblings, Ruby Bowling of Beckley and Barbara Darnell of Jacksonville FL.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the Pine Grove Memorial Gardens at Lindside where his grandsons will carry him to his resting place.
Friends may visit with the family Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 P.M. at the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton to celebrate his life.
